General information
In southern Brazil, we support a daycare center in a low-income neighborhood of the city of Tucunduva. There, more than one hundred children and teenagers from disadvantaged families are cared for and supported every day through a variety of activities and vocational preparation programs. They receive nutritious meals daily and, when needed, clothing. A sponsorship of 30 Euro/Month enables a child to attend the daycare center. Project 221 – Child Sponsorships Brazil
Tucunduva is located in the southernmost part of Brazil, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, about 50 km from the Argentine border. In the low-income neighborhood (= favela) of the city, the … has stood for 30 years. OBRAMIS Daycare Center (= Abkürzung von portug. „Obra missionária“, d.h. Missionsarbeit). Gegründet wurde sie von dem deutschen Missionar Johann Schorr und seiner Frau Frieda. Seit 2013 leitet Abel Schorr, the son of the founding couple, together with his wife Fernanda die Arbeit.

More than 150 children
At the center, more than 150 children aged 0 to 17 from mostly challenging social backgrounds are cared for on weekdays. While the younger children are looked after in the nursery and kindergarten, boys and girls aged six and above can take part in various activities outside school hours, such as music, gardening, woodworking, baking classes, sewing courses, pottery, computer skills, and communication. In addition, every Sunday a Children’s church is offered for the children of the city.
The daycare center enjoys a good reputation with the city authorities as well as among the local population and is an integral part of social life.

For this sponsorship project, we offer two ways to provide support.
1. Child Sponsorship
This means providing regular financial support to a child in the chosen project, ensuring that they are well cared for and supported according to their developmental needs. Sponsors receive informational letters from the project twice a year.
2. Project Sponsorship
This means contributing regularly, at any amount you choose, to support the chosen sponsorship project as a whole. This helps cover general project costs, such as staff and household expenses, as well as additional costs like special activities, major purchases, or social assistance in emergency situations.
