General information
At the “Prem Sewa” children’s home in India, near the border with Nepal, up to 40 boys between the ages of 5 and 25 live together. They come from very poor families, whose parents often rely on begging for their livelihood. In cooperation with the support organization “Aktion Lebensbrot e.V.,” the boys receive comprehensive care in a family-like environment and attend a local school. The contribution for a partial or full sponsorship ranges between 10 and 90 Euro/Month and can be freely chosen. By combining several partial sponsorships, the full support of a boy can be ensured. Over 50 years
Vor über 50 Jahren wurde das „Prem Sewa Children’s Home“ in Rupaidiha, einem Ort in Nordindien direkt an der Grenze zu Nepal, gegründet, um Jungen aus Familien aufzunehmen, die wegen Krankheit oder Armut ihre Kinder nicht versorgen können. Viele der Kinder würden sonst verwahrlost oder als Bettler auf der Straße landen. Die jetzigen Heimleiter sind Annie and Anand James from southern India, who have a big heart for the children and see their work at the home as their calling.
The project is coordinated from Germany by Christof and Iris Wallner*, directors of the support association “Aktion Lebensbrot e.V.”, who oversee and guide the project and support it through regular visits. The association was specifically founded years ago for work in India and collaborates closely with VM-International.
The goal of the children’s home is to provide the boys with a carefree childhood and a good education, which in India is the most important prerequisite for an independent life.
They join the large home family at around 5 years of age and are lovingly cared for by dedicated staff who play with the children, read them stories, sing and pray with them, and provide emotional support. Like all boys in India, they play cricket and football, often make music together, and learn a lot about life and about God.
They also learn important general life skills, such as cooking, washing, and practical crafts.
They attend the local school together. During school holidays, the boys stay with their families. Overall, they remain at the children’s home for about 15 years, after which, based on their abilities and following guidance and placement by the home’s leadership, they move on to vocational training.

„Ich habe einige Jahre meines Lebens in Rupaidiha verbracht und dort viele schüchterne 5-jährige Jungen gesehen, die im Heim aufwuchsen, fröhlich sangen, hart studierten, Kricket und Fußball spielten, Bibelgeschichten lasen und zusammen beteten, einander Musikinstrumente beibrachten… Diese Jungen verließen das Heim ca. 15 Jahre später als verantwortungsbewusste, reife junge Männer.
Wir beten, dass das Heim weiterhin ein Platz ist, wo Menschen Gottes Segen erfahren und selbst ein Segen werden für die ganze Gesellschaft.“

For this sponsorship project, we offer two ways to provide support.
1. Child Sponsorship
This means providing regular financial support to a child in the chosen project, ensuring that they are well cared for and supported according to their developmental needs. Sponsors receive informational letters from the project twice a year.
2. Project Sponsorship
This means contributing regularly, at any amount you choose, to support the chosen sponsorship project as a whole. This helps cover general project costs, such as staff and household expenses, as well as additional costs like special activities, major purchases, or social assistance in emergency situations.
